This acrylic landscape painting was created after an early morning walk on the trails near my home. The skies were dramatic, there was the scent of change in the air that was impossible to decipher—was it good or terrifying?
The atmosphere was electric, reminding me of some recent verses that I was mulling over about the Day of the Lord—a day we look forward to with a measure of anticipation and awe. I wanted to express that tension between darkness and light, joy and dread.
“But you, brethren, are not in darkness, so that this Day should overtake you as a thief.
You are all sons of light and sons of the day. We are not of the night nor of darkness.
Therefore let us not sleep, as others do, but let us watch and be sober.” 1: Thessalonians 5:4-6
It is my hope that this artwork will be a constant reminder to be watchful and ready for that promised Day.
